You guys,
I don’t know if it’s the heat or being stressed about homeschooling a 6th grader this year (how is this even possible??) or some other unknown force, but I don’t think I created any artwork all summer.
Oops.
In fact, I almost gave up on it entirely. The writing, the art – E V E R Y T H I N G.
All I wanted to do was spin out in confusion and stress about how I was spending my time here on earth. Should I write? Should I illustrate? Should I try to become an actress, or live out my dream to become a famous singer?? YOLO – I’VE GOT TO MAKE THE MOST OF IT, PEOPLE!
Seriously, it was a dilemma.
But, what was I actually doing…..?
I wasn’t writing, making illustrations, or doing much of anything artistically – But I wasn’t following any of those other things either. I wasn’t rehearsing monologues for auditions or Googling how to become a better singer. I was stalling. Allowing myself to indulge in confusion while my artistic skills waited patiently for me to return.
Slowly, but surely, I did return.
One day my daughter and I had the idea to design some stickers, so that’s what we did! We ordered special printable sticker paper and I taught her how to use Procreate on the iPad and we made our own stickers!
And that’s what it took to spark my excitement and joy of creating images again. It was so fun that she even decided she wanted to start her own business selling stickers! It was definitely what I needed to get me out of my own head and into my life.
Here they are! Even though summer is coming to a close, I wanted to share them with you. Get yourself some sticker paper and make some of these adorable stickers in the comfort of your own home.
I hope these give you as much joy as they gave me.
Keep creating!
